Then Jaewar & Vibe Riot take the stage, fusing funk, reggae, hip-hop, and alternative soul to create a live experience that speaks to the times—uplifting, unifying, and unapologetically bold. Finally, the incomparable Plunky & Oneness close out the night with their jazz-infused groove steeped in the smooth sensuality of ‘90s R&B. Expect a seamless journey through sound and movement that honors the roots of rhythm while pushing it forward.
Plunky & Oneness
Plunky & Oneness are led by the iconic saxophonist, composer, and producer James “Plunky” Branch, a Richmond legend whose work transcends genres and generations. With a career spanning over four decades and more than 30 albums, Plunky has performed alongside giants such as Patti LaBelle, Ray Charles, and Lonnie Liston Smith. Known for blending jazz, funk, soul, and African rhythms into a uniquely conscious groove, Plunky & Oneness deliver an experience that’s both sophisticated and deeply human. Fresh off their recent performance at The Reveler, the group brings an elevated soundscape—this time leaning into a lush ‘90s R&B vibe perfectly aligned with the energy and vision of Vibe Fest.
Jaewar & Vibe Riot
Jaewar & Vibe Riot are the heartbeat of the festival itself—an ever-evolving collective founded on the belief that art is activism and rhythm is resistance. Jaewar and Vibe Riot have performed alongside titans like Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Steel Pulse, Michael Franti & Spearhead. Known for their genre-bending performances and high-vibration message, the Charlottesville-based group bridges sound and purpose through fearless fusion. From hard-hitting verses to soulful hooks and funky instrumentals, Jaewar & Vibe Riot embody the essence of community and collaboration that Vibe Fest stands for.
